Greetings from Hannah Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star Inc., State of New Jersey, working under the jurisdiction of The Worshipful Ezekiel Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M. located in Jersey City. The Order of the Eastern Star is one of the largest fraternal organizations in the world to which both men and women can belong. We represent the first Sisterhood. Our foundation is scriptural, but we are not a religious organization. The virtues which we stand upon are Fidelity, Constancy, Purity, Faith and Love.
Hannah Grand Chapter’s vision is to Strengthen our Sisterhood through Service. We are a charitable organization; our mission is to SERVE.

Our Charity & Community Service
Hannah Grand Chapter Community Activities include: Power of Pink Prayer Breakfast: Breast Cancer Awareness, Thanksgiving Baskets, Clothing Drives, Senior Shoe Gift Boxes, Care Cans, Chari-Tea and Scholarships through the Willie Beachem Elsie Ellison Scholarship Fund.
The Beachem Ellison Scholarship fund (BESF) named after two of our most outstanding leaders, Past Grand Master, Brother Willie Beachem and Past Grand Matron, Sister Elsie Ellison who has flawlessly exhibited Masonic character, principles and virtues while serving as mentors and role models to Masons and Eastern Stars throughout their Masonic journey.
For more than a decade the BESF has been awarding scholarships to worthy students seeking to broaden their horizons through higher education. We are very proud of these young men and women who have attended various prestigious higher learning institutions ranging from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to top liberal arts, engineering and medical institutions.

History of Hannah Grand Chapter
Sis. Aazon Lighty realized that the work in the community in which the Eastern Stars have always proudly invested, was at its lowest. It was determined that reorganization was needed. With the help and support of a wise group of women: Sis. Elsie Ellison, Past Grand Matron, Sis. Emily Yarbrough, Sis. Ida Rogers, Sis. Emily Hart, Sis. Eleanor Carter, Sis. Brenda Scates, Sis. Milcah Brown, Sis. Lizzie Keaton and Sis. Janie Harris moved to set up a Grand Chapter. Sis. Aazon Lighty and her sisters, working under Queen Sheba Grand Chapter, Newark, NJ; proceeded to organize and constitute Hannah Grand Chapter.
On January 28, 2006, Hannah Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, State of New Jersey was established, adopted and set forth to work under the jurisdiction of The Most Worshipful Ezekiel Grand Lodge, A. F. & A.M., State of New Jersey, Honorable John Henson, 33°, Grand Master. The (6) Charter Subordinate Chapters were: Leah Chapter #1, Plainfield, NJ, Coretta King Chapter #2, Morristown, NJ, Lydia Chapter #3, Jersey City, NJ, Morning Star Chapter #4, Newark, NJ, Queen Victoria Chapter #5, Rahway, NJ and Deborah Chapter #6, Piscataway, NJ. Sis. Aazon Lighty, of Coretta King #2, was elected the first Grand Worthy Matron of Hannah Grand Chapter, OES, State of New Jersey. On June 25, 2011, Sis. Andrea Williams was elected to the office of Grand Worthy Matron. Under Sis. Williams leadership, Hannah Grand Chapter became incorporated. On June 23, 2018, Sis. Kisha Frazier was elected as third Grand Worthy Matron, her mission was to Strengthen our Sisterhood through Service. On October 10, 2020, Sis. Rachel Jarido was elected as Grand Worthy Matron. On June 26, 2021, PGM Williams was re-elected as Grand Worthy Matron. On June 25, 2022, Sis. Rachel Jarido was elected as Grand Worthy Matron. On June 22, 2024, Sis. Michelle Bailey-Brown was elected as Worthy Grand Matron.
